Revisionary Pro

Revisionary Pro (part of the PublishPress plugin suite) provides an enterprise-grade editorial workflow engine for content-heavy WordPress websites. In standard WordPress core, making edits to an already live post or page requires either publishing changes immediately or saving over the published content as a draft, which unpublishes or disrupts the live URL. Revisionary Pro solves this limitation by introducing "Pending Revisions" and "Scheduled Revisions." Content creators can submit proposed updates to live articles without affecting the public-facing content. Editors and site managers can view visual side-by-side diff comparisons, approve or reject modifications, and schedule approved changes to replace live content automatically at a specified future date and time.

Main Features

• Scheduled revisions for published content — Draft updates to live posts, pages, or custom post types and schedule them to go live automatically at a specific date and time.
• Pending revision submission workflow — Allow authors, contributors, or external copywriters to submit proposed changes for administrator review without altering live content.
• Visual side-by-side diff editor — View highlighted side-by-side comparisons of text, HTML, metadata, featured images, and page builder elements between live posts and pending revisions.
• Front-end & back-end revision preview — Generate secure preview links so stakeholders and legal teams can inspect scheduled updates on the front-end layout before publication.
• Granular capability & permission controls — Define custom user role permissions governing who can submit, edit, approve, or schedule revisions for specific post types.
• Elementor & Gutenberg compatibility — Fully supports major page builders and the native Block Editor for drafting complex visual page updates safely behind the scenes.
• Automated editorial email notifications — Trigger instant email alerts to editors when new revisions are submitted, approved, scheduled, or published.
• Revision queue management hub — Access a centralized dashboard screen to manage all active pending, scheduled, and past revisions across the entire site.

Benefits

• Eliminates live site publishing risks — Prevents accidental publication of incomplete edits or unapproved draft content on active, high-traffic pages.
• Streamlines client & editorial approvals — Facilitates multi-stage content review workflows for agencies, corporate publishers, and compliance-heavy organizations.
• Protects live URL availability — Allows continuous drafting and editing behind the scenes without needing to unpublish or duplicate live pages.
• Automates campaign content launches — Enables marketing teams to pre-build holiday pricing updates, press releases, or seasonal landing page edits for automatic deployment.
• Saves development & staging time — Cuts down reliance on separate staging environments for simple content updates by offering safe inline staging directly within WordPress.
